For adults

The same thing, later.

Distinction was built for young people, and it works on them because of what it does rather than how old they are. It finds out what someone actually wants, breaks it into work that can be started this week, and keeps a dated record of what they did. None of that stops being true at thirty. Most adults who feel stuck are not short of ambition. They are short of the steps, and nobody has ever laid them out.

How it works for an adult

It starts with one conversation, about half an hour, about you rather than about a child. What you have already done, what you are avoiding, what you would do if money were not the question, and what you hate about the way things are. That last one matters most. People describe what they love in borrowed language and describe what they hate in their own, so it is usually the fastest route to what somebody actually wants to change.

What comes back is a plan: a direction, three or four real projects with milestones, boundaries built from the hours and money you actually have, and a coach that holds you to them. Everything you do lands in a dated record.

Four kinds of people this suits

You want a place at a university.

A master's or a doctorate is not won by the application. It is won by what you can point at when the application asks. The intake here comes from years of doing exactly this work, and the plan is built backwards from the program you want.

You want to write.

Writing is the clearest case there is. Drafts, submissions, rejections, word counts. The record is the working life, and the failure log is not a punishment, it is the part every writer already lives with and nobody keeps properly.

You want to build something.

The smallest version that could exist in ninety days, the runway you actually have, and who has already said no. Coaching that argues with you about scope rather than agreeing with you about vision.

You do not know yet.

This is the largest group and the least served. Not knowing what you want is not a personality flaw, it is a research problem, and it has a method. What you could talk about for an hour. What people come to you for. Three lives you could imagine. What is stopping each one, and whether it is money, permission, skill, or nobody ever telling you the steps.

What you get to keep

A record is memory kept outside a person. Every entry is dated on the day it happened, in your own words, and it does not depend on you remembering to write it down later. Years of that is a different kind of document from a list of jobs. It is the difference between saying you are capable and being able to show the week you proved it.

How to start

Adult accounts are opened by hand, one at a time, in small numbers. There is no signup form and no self serve version yet. Tell us what you are trying to do and we will come back to you.
