Terms

The agreement between Distinction and participating families.

Adult-controlled participation

Distinction serves children from birth to 18. The responsible adult creates and controls participation at every age. Each child receives a distinct profile and plan. Below age ten the product is parent only: the child has no access of their own, and Cora works with the adult. A child's own access to Cora begins at ten and remains under the adult's control. The adult is responsible for the account and for ensuring appropriate use.

Development coaching

Distinction is a development-coaching service. Cora provides project, learning, development, reflection, and motivational support. Distinction does not guarantee specific admission outcomes, university placements, or other external results. Decisions about outside opportunities, competitions, mentorships, programs, admissions, remain with the family and the opportunity providers.

Payment

Selecting a plan on the website records a preference. Billing terms are presented and confirmed before any payment is collected.

Family ownership of work

The child and family own the work they submit and create. Distinction processes this work as needed to operate the service, coaching, reflection, evidence, reporting, and plan preparation.

Publication with permission

A child's work may be published in the Showcase only with the parent's permission. Publication is opt-in.

Parent-gated real-world actions

Cora may encourage real-world actions, spending small amounts, contacting adults, going to local places, publishing work, only within the permissions the parent has granted. Actions beyond granted permissions require the parent's approval.

Appropriate use and suspension

The adult is responsible for ensuring the account is used appropriately. Distinction may suspend access in cases of misuse.

Partners

Some schools, camps and programs pay Distinction to be discoverable here. Partner status is not a recommendation, Distinction is not a party to any admissions decision, and the partner is an independent data controller for anything a family chooses to send it. Distinction does not sell user data.
