Safety

How we keep the experience safe, and where its limits are.

A hallway with a door ajar and warm light spilling across the floor.

Under ten, parent only

Below age ten your child never speaks with Cora and has no access of their own. The account, the record and every conversation belong to you. Cora's guidance at these ages is written to you, about what to notice and what to build. The child's own access begins at ten, and it begins because you turn it on.

What Cora does

Cora provides project, learning, development, reflection, and motivational support. She coaches the child through real work, honest reflection, and small daily steps, always with the parent visible and in control.

Independent safety review

An independent safety review runs alongside Cora's coaching. It is a separate process, not part of the coaching itself. When a child's message raises concern, it may be flagged for team review. This does not change Cora's reply to the child.

The adult remains in the experience

The responsible adult sees everything the child sees. The adult controls permissions for money, contact, travel, and public publishing. Real-world actions that go beyond granted permissions require the parent's approval.

Automated systems can be imperfect

Cora is an AI coach, and automated safety review is an automated system. Both can make mistakes: missing something that matters, or flagging something that does not. We design for this, but no automated system is perfect.

What Distinction is not

Distinction is not therapy, psychological counselling, medical care, legal advice, or emergency response.

In immediate danger, contact local emergency services and a trusted adult.

Military-connected families

For military-connected families, safety review and the adult-in-the-loop protections apply the same way across every move. The responsible adult retains full visibility and permission control regardless of duty station. The base School Liaison Officer and school counselor remain the local experts; Distinction does not replace them. Read the military-connected families page →
