Architecture and design

Architecture sits between the studio and the engineering department: a portfolio of drawing, making and spatial thinking, with maths and physics strong enough for the structures work. Schools want evidence of seeing — sketchbooks, photographs, models — more than finished buildings, and they can tell a sketchbook kept for years from one bought in September.

Where you are now

How old is your child?

The sketchbook becomes serious and dated. First models with real materials. Maths and physics measured, because a portfolio without them ends at the interview. Design competitions where they exist.

The common mistake

What most families do instead.

Families discover the portfolio requirement eighteen months too late and buy a portfolio-preparation course, which produces work that looks like a portfolio-preparation course. The sketchbooks that win places were kept for years because the child liked keeping them.

Concretely

What the record looks like after two years on this path.

  • A continuous dated sketchbook habit, uploaded in batches
  • Three or four models or made objects, photographed with their process
  • Maths and physics levels, tracked
  • One design competition or exhibition entered
What Distinction does about it

The sketchbook, kept

Uploaded and dated across years — exactly the evidence schools ask for and families never have.

Maths and physics, watched

Assessments keep the structural side honest while the studio side grows.

What to do this month.

  1. 1

Start the everywhere-sketchbook, and upload the first ten pages dated.

  2. 2

Run the maths assessment — it is the quiet requirement on this path.

Sign up and the first conversation already knows the direction. The plan Cora builds is aimed at it from day one.

A path your child has not chosen will not survive the work. We build toward the direction you have in mind by getting your child genuinely interested in it — that is not a softer version of the goal, it is the only version that arrives.

And if they change direction at sixteen, the record survives it. Finishing things, building things, working with people — the evidence transfers.
