Creative and visual arts
Creative paths are assessed almost entirely on portfolio, and portfolios are built over years, not assembled in a final term. What separates: a body of work with visible development, technique deliberately practised rather than relied on as talent, work shown to real audiences and revised afterwards, and the ability to talk about their own work seriously. The academics still need to be plausible, and they are the thing most often let slide.
How old is your child?
Deliberate practice begins: technique worked on because it was chosen, a first real audience — a competition, an exhibition, a school show — and the revision that follows being seen. The portfolio habit starts: everything dated, drafts included.
What most families do instead.
Most families with a talented child either coast on the talent until the portfolio deadline exposes four years of undated, unphotographed work, or they professionalise a twelve-year-old until the joy is gone and the work shows it. The record solves the first; restraint solves the second.
What the record looks like after two years on this path.
- A dated portfolio: finished pieces, drafts, and the development visible between them
- Work shown to a real audience twice, with what changed afterwards
- Technique practice logged as chosen work, not punishment
- Academic levels checked yearly, so the fallback is real
A portfolio built as it happens
Photographs, recordings, drafts and finished work, uploaded and dated across years. Development becomes visible instead of asserted.
Real audiences
Exhibitions, competitions and showcases where work is seen by people who are not family.
Show meThe academics, kept honest
Creative paths still need a plausible academic record. Assessments say where things really are.

- 1
Photograph and upload everything made in the last year, dated as best you can — the portfolio starts today, backwards.
- 2
Find one exhibition, competition or performance with a deadline this term.
Sign up and the first conversation already knows the direction. The plan Cora builds is aimed at it from day one.
A path your child has not chosen will not survive the work. We build toward the direction you have in mind by getting your child genuinely interested in it — that is not a softer version of the goal, it is the only version that arrives.
And if they change direction at sixteen, the record survives it. Finishing things, building things, working with people — the evidence transfers.
